Four Ways to Make People Like You
Look good. You don't have to be ready to walk a runway, but take some pride in your appearance. Be clean, well-groomed and make sure that your clothes are flattering.
Smile and make eye contact. People who smile a lot appear friendly and approachable. When you're smiling, you'll find that people are more likely to reach out to you. Eye contact is also important as it shows that you are honest, confident, and focused on the person standing in front of you.
Ask people questions about themselves. There is nothing that people like more than talking about themselves. If you get someone talking about something that they are interested in, they will think that you are an excellent conversationalist. Don't fake it though or people will see through it. Be genuinely interested in other people.
Be positive. It is natural to want to spend time with positive people. Nobody wants to be dragged down by someone who complains, whines and criticizes others. Keep your conversations pleasant and upbeat, and you'll find that people will seek you out.
Be compassionate. Always try to consider the feelings of others. For example, if your coworker is trying to carry a heavy table, step in to help her. If she is struggling with her workload, see if there is any way that you can assist her. Even if you can't really help, she will appreciate that fact that you cared enough to try.
There is no big secret to getting people to like you. If you take care of yourself and you genuinely care about others then you are more than halfway there!
